About

An emotionally connected, multi-modality approach to treating PTSD that’s all under one roof

Founded by Dr Rose Petrohilos, The Baker St Clinic is a project to change the way we treat trauma. We are interested in not just healing minds, but hearts too. Our basic proposition is to combine psychiatry, GP, psychology, group therapy, alcohol and other drug counselling as well as a safe space library, florist and cafe.

Rose is a young Australian junior doctor from country South-West Victoria who studied at The University of Queensland. She is also a parent, divorcee, and proudly queer woman/non-binary person who has escaped from more dodgy situations than she can count. Her unconventional journey into medicine probably started when her mother passed away from breast cancer when she was only 10 years old and her passion for health and being kind keeps her going forward, even in the face of occasionally significant adversity.

Rose married a man many years her senior at age 18, then completed a Bachelor’s of Health Science while having a child at age 22. Parenthood is challenging under the best of circumstances, but it also changes and inspires us. Rose decided to take up the profession of her uncle, Dr Michael Petrohilos, and started studying for the post-graduate medical school entrance exam. She was accepted to the University of Queensland in 2019 while also being a full-time carer for her son. A divorce during Covid taught her many things about love, life and what it really means to be healthy. Despite this and a fair few challenges, Rose graduated medical school on-time in 2022 and was the HMO Representative for Bairnsdale Regional Health Service during her internship there.

Rose hopes to bring the lessons she learned about resiliance, focusing on the future, healing from trauma and finding love in lonely places to her clinical practice. She believes that humanising and empathising with patients and colleagues is the cornerstone of good medical practice. She currently seeks to live a more ethical life in Adelaide, South Australia.
